Features & Information

Reverse Fee Engineering

To cover your costs, you often need to charge slightly more than your base price. Our calculator reverse-engineers the transaction fee, telling you exactly how much to invoice your client so you receive your full target amount after PayPal deductions.

Custom Rate Overrides

Payment rates vary by region, volume, and account type. We provide common presets but also allow you to manually adjust both the percentage and fixed fee components to match your specific merchant agreement precisely.

Instant Offline Processing

Our fee calculator runs instantly within your browser. By performing all calculations locally, we eliminate server latency and ensure your transaction data remains private and secure on your own device.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the standard PayPal fees for a transaction?

As of late 2021, the standard commercial transaction fee for US sellers using PayPal Checkout is generally 3.49% + $0.49 per transaction. Older, legacy accounts and alternative PayPal transaction methods often use the older 2.9% + $0.30 threshold. International transactions generally face even higher limits.

Why does the "Charge This Amount" calculation feel slightly off?

To find out how much you should charge to receive an exact amount, you cannot simply add the flat percentage onto your total. If you do that, PayPal will take a percentage of the slightly larger amount, and you will fall a few cents short. You have to use exact reverse division math: (Desired Amount + Fixed Fee) / (1 - Percentage Rate).

Can I use this for Stripe, Square, or other payment processors?

Yes, absolutely. Most payment processors operate exactly the same way (a small percentage deduction plus a flat-cent fee). Just manually adjust the "Fee Percentage" and "Fixed Fee" inputs to match the rates of your specific payment processor and the math works perfectly.
